Painkiller is no longer “harmful to young minds”

As a kid growing up, we all have heard the phrase “Violent video games are the reason behind all the death and destruction in this world”. Lets just be happy that at least one particular video game is now out of that list. Germany’s Federal Review Board for Media Harmful to Minors has just removed Painkiller from that list.

Released back in 2004 was listed on Germany’s Federal Review Board for Media Harmful to Minors. If you don’t know being on that list means the game can’t be advertised or sold in any place that is visible to minors, but thanks to THQ Nordic the new license holders of the IP, Painkiller has been removed.

Now the game where the protagonist quest to beat the crap out of every demon back to hell in a violent and bloody fashion can be enjoyed by all ages.

“We can still celebrate ‘small’ successes like this, even if more than a decade later. We will of course still be nurturing our extensive games portfolio, and will do what it takes to ensure that gamers can play our games in the future,” -THQ Nordic.
